Day 1-  Abruzzo: Maiella National Park (L,D)
We will meet you in Pescara and take you to the daily indoor farmers markets full of colourful local produce. Not to miss the wonderful local specialty porchetta- roast pork with rosemary and garlic. We wind our way up to nearly 700 m above sea level to a medieval hilltop village to your delightful accommodation in the Apennines, bordering the Maiella National Park. Explore the village and go for a high alpine walk along the shepherds tracks, see flocks of sheep and goats on the mountain side.
There will be time to indulge in some gourmet delights of the region with some local Abruzzese wines. Dinner will be in a superb local restaurant in a nearby village with regional specialities.

Day 2 -  Medieval Castle – Truffle Hunting- Private Cooking Class  (B,D)
The day commences with a visit to a local cheesemaker who produces glorious cheeses and ricotta using traditional methods. Explore the medieval castle of Roccascalegna perched on a rocky outcrop above the Rio Secco. Depending on harvest season of exquisite truffles, we may be able to see Piero our truffle hunter work magic with his truffle dogs under the oak trees. Your private cooking class is with Maria Grazia who will share her passion for Abruzzese cooking. Prepare a 4 course dinner together using fresh and seasonal local ingredients. Learn the secrets of slow cooking as you create wonderful antipasti, traditional home made pasta, dessert and more… Be wined, dined and serenaded by Michael Howard, interenational tenor who will sing beautiful Italian folksongs. A truly unforgettable evening.

 Day 3 –Guardiagrele  (B, L)
Your private guided walking tour of Guardiagrele takes in local artisans and shops including goldsmith, ceramic shops and wrought iron workshops. A superb slow food restaurant with an enchanting 4 course degustation lunch awaits. Indulge in a private Wine and Olive Oil Tasting savouring the very best the region has to offer with montepulciano and trebbiano wines and fine extra virgin olive oils.Transfer to Pescara station or airport for your onward journey…  Buon Viaggio!
